Talk on ‘Filing of Income Tax Return
Sh. Hemant Gupta, Chartered Accountant and Professor delivered a lecture on ‘Filing of Return’. Dr. Seema Arora, Principal DAV College for Women welcomed the guest of the day. Resource person started the lecture by explaining the rules of filing return in simple and lucid manner. Basic terminology of return filing like PAN, TAN, DSC, digital signature, ITR’s was explained to the students. Types of filing of return: physical approach and electronic manner & how e-filing is better over physical method were discussed. The process of e-filing was explained to students with the help of power point presentation. This was enlightening and informative lecture for students and faculty members. In the end the speaker of the day was honored by the Principal Madam and faculty members of Commerce Department.
Report for the celebration of ‘AAZADI 70’ – Yaad Karo Quarbani (Freedom Fortnight)
As per the instructions of Directorate of Public Instruction ( colleges) Punjab, a series of events were organized in DAV College for Women, Ferozepur Cantt, under the guidance and supervision of Principal, Dr. Seema Arora, to commemorate 70th year of Independence.
On 9th Aug. 2016, NCC and NSS unit organized Tree Plantation in college premises. This event was inaugurated by CHM, Jagdish Singh, in the presence of Principal, Dr. Seema Arora. Guest planted shady trees and gave an informative message to the students about the importance of trees in human life. He emphasized that without trees human lives would not have existed on this beautiful planet.
On 10th Aug. 2016, Poster Making competition was conducted by Home Science department on the theme ‘ Aazadi 70’. More than 50 students of different streams participated in this competition. Divya of BA III, Amarjeet of BA I and Nishtha of +2 bagged 1st 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
On 12th Aug. 2016‘Run for Fun’ activity was organized in college campus. More than 200 students and the staff members participated with great enthusiasm.
On 13th Aug. 2016, Inter class Quiz, Debate, essay writing and poem writing competitions were held on the topic ‘Aazadi 70’. Students from different classes participated with great zeal. On the same day card making and best out of waste competition was organized. In card making 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Divya, Manpreet and Dipika respectively, whereas Rabia was adjudged first, Chandani second and Dipika claimed the third spot.
On 17th Aug. 2016, To mark the ‘Azadi 70’ college, students of NCC, NSS, English and PG Deptt. Of Punjabi paid visit to Hussainiwala Border, to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to get their motherland free from the yoke of foreign rule.A Candle light March was also held on the Samadhi Sthal of Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, and Sukhdev. Students along with their teachers enthusiastically participated.
Honouring the true spirit of brotherhood, ‘Young daughters’ of DAV College for Women celebrated the festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with the BSF Jawans at Hussainiwala border. Girls tie rakhis on the wrists of BSF jawans and also presented handmade cards, especially prepared by them in inter-class competition. The BSF brothers reciprocated the love & affection shown by the girls by showering blessings and refreshment was distributed by them.
On 19th Aug. 2016, a skit was presented by the students in order to sensitize the students about the social and equality issues, especially plight of women in this hi-tech society. This skit delivered a beautiful message of universal fraternity.
On 20th Aug. 2016, a competition of patriotic songs was organized and students participated with great enthusiasm.
Lecture was delivered on the theme of Women Empowerment by Principal, Dr. Seema Arora. She explained that women is delivering multiple roles effortlessly every single day, they are undoubtedly the backbone of any society. Doting daughters, caring mothers, competent colleagues and a wide range of many other roles are played by women around us flawlessly and with grace. She further added that women today are able to empower themselves by organizing campaigns and voicing their opinions for equality rights.

SVEEP program ( Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation)
As per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur,(circulation vide letter no. :Election2016/655 dated 09-08-2016), various activities under SVEEP program ( Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation) were organised in DAV College for Women, Ferozepur in the month of September 2016, under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Seema Arora.
These activities were carried out under the super vision of Prof. Vinay Kumar( Nodal Officer). 3 Campus Ambassadors namely Shabnam (BA Final), Aastha Mittal(BA Final) and Shifa(BA First) were selected. On 26th Aug.2016, Voter Awareness Camp was organised by the Distt. Election Officer in which Mr. Sandeep Singh Garha, SDM , Ferozepur, addressed the students. He generated awareness about the process of voter registration, importance of voting and recognized the performance of the Election functionaries during non-election periods.
Other than this poster making , slogan writing, rangoli and quiz competitions were conducted in the college premises and the schedule is mentioned below:

College Activities January 2016 - March 2016
Birthday of a great Socio-Religious reformer – Swami Vivekanand was celebrated in the campus, on 12th Jan, 2016. Principal Dr. Seema Arora highlighted about the various aspects of his personality; asked the students to adopt one idea, live that idea, sleep that idea, eat into that idea then the whole universe supports to fulfill that idea.
Poster making competition was organized by the Red Ribbon Club on the topic of Drug De-addiction on 23rd Jan, 2016.
Voter Awareness Day was celebrated on 25th Jan, 2016. Role of each Voter is important in political processes of the country.
Seminar on Human Trafficking was organized by Department of Psychology on 29th Jan, 2016, Dr. D.J. Singh, former Deputy Director, Punjab Police Academy Phillaur was the key speaker. He interact with the students and sensitize them on various social concerns.
A Talk on Mahatma Gandhi-Father of Nation was organized in the campus on 30th Jan, 2016. Principal Dr. Seema Arora advised the students to follow the path of non-violence. Which in turn will prove a bone of contention to the society.
To make the students aware about the dental problems, a dental check-up camp was organized by NSS Department with the collaboration of Genesis Dental College & Hospital on 2nd Feb, 2016.
Red Ribbon Club organized a Drug De-addiction and Aids awareness rally on 4th Feb, 2016.
Red Ribbon Club organized a talk on Blood Donation in the campus on 9th Feb, 2016.
Exhibition based on Punjabi culture & heritage (Virsa Vihar) was organized by PG Department of Punjabi on 10th Feb, 2016.
10. Dr. Satinder Singh, National Awardee delivered a talk on Save Water on 16th Feb, 2016. He explained the students how minimum use of water can save water for future generations. He gave the slogan save water for future.
11.One day national seminar on Maat Bhoomi Atey Vaas Bhoomi de anter Sambandh was organized by PG Department of Punjabi, sponsored by Panjab University, Chandigarh on 17th Feb, 2016. Dr. I.G. Gaud, Professor Department of History, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Yograj, Professor Department of History, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Paramjit Singh Dhingra and Dr. Gurpal Singh Sandhu were the key speakers.60 research papers were presented in the seminar.
12.A seminar on Career Orientation with collaboration of M/s Infomaths, Chandigarh was organized by the Placement Department on 18th Feb, 2016. Ms. Arpana Grover, Director, M/s Infomaths explained students about various career opportunities available to them.
13.NSS Department of the College conducted a drive on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the campus on 20th Feb, 2016.
14.A Workshop on Cooking Skills was organized by Home Science Department in the campus on 24th Feb, 2016.
15.Students of the College visited to Government Girls Sr. Sec. School Ferozepur (Differently-abled Children) on 24th Feb, 2016. College distributed Note-Books, Color, fruits and sweets to the students.
16.Workshop on Aroma Therapy was organized by Department of Cosmetology in the campus on 28th Feb, 2016. Dr. Neeraj, Civil Hospital, Ferozepur explained the students about the benefits of aroma therapy.
17.Principal Dr. Seema Arora was honoured by Principal DAV College, Amritsar at International Conference On Concept of Social Justice of Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar on 2nd March, 2016.
18.UGC Sponsored One Day Seminar On Digital India: Prospects And Future Scenario was jointly organized Department of Computer Science and Commerce on 4th March, 2016. Dr. B.B. Sharma, Principal, DAV College, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest, Dr. Manoj Sharma, UBS, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Keynote Speaker, Dr. M.L. Singh, Professor , Deptt. of Electronics , GNDU Amritsar delivered the valedictory speech. On the whole 50 papers based on empirical and research were presented in the seminar.
19.A Havan yajna was organized in campus to celebrate Rishi Bodha Utsav. Students & Staff participated in it.Whole campus was illuminated.
20.International Women Day was celebrated in the college on 8th March, 2016, Students presented their views on "Women Empowerment in Modern Era".30 students participated. The event Winners of competition were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 500/-, 400/-, 300/- and five consolation prizes of Rs. 200/- respectively. Principal Dr. Seema Arora, encourage the girl students to come forward to remove the social barriers in the society.
21.Tree plantation camp was organized by NSS Department on 9th March, 2016, Director PAU Regional Centre Ferozepur was the main guest of the day. He sensitized the students about earth and environment and how each one of us can protect it.
22.Awareness rally on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized by NCC Department on 17th March, 2016.
23.A Two Day Conference in collaboration with Praachi-Psycho Cultural Research Association, (PPCRA) Meerut on the theme Need of Psychological Intervention in Global Society was organized by the Department of Psychology on 18th – 19th March, 2016. Resource Persons from different universities shared their views. Delegates from all over India participated in the conference. It was a huge success. Not only on need of psychological intervention was the concern but how polluted water is a big cause of concern for the future generations. Dr. Pritpal & Dr. Azad further sensitized the proceedings with their research on hair & urine sample that is disturbing the roots of society.
24.College observed "Shahidi Divas" to Commemorate martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev. Principal Dr. Seema Arora explaned to the student how sacrifice of these martyrs forced the Britishers to free India from their rule.
